The
Sriracha Tiger Zoo is a zoo in
Pattaya, a city in the
Chonburi Province of
Thailand, about 60 miles from
Bangkok. The zoo claims a population of 200 tigers and around 10,000 crocodiles, the largest such populations in the world.
In recent years, the zoo has faced severe criticism, mainly due to it offering circus- and carnival-like shows, exhibits, and interactions. Some shows consist of tigers leaping through rings of fire, walking across a double tightrope, parading around the ring on hind legs, and riding around on the back of the horse. Like the vast majority of circus animals, the animals at Sriracha Tiger Zoo are often hurt while performing or are tortured in order to make them perform stunts.
