Sirikitiya Jensen

Khun Sirikitiya Jensen ("Khun Sirikitiya Jensen" in Thailand or "Khun Mai") () is a member of the Thai Royal Family. Born on 18 March, 1985, to Princess Ubol Ratana Rajakanya (eldest daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej) and American Peter Ladd Jensen, she is the King's granddaughter. Khun Sirikitiya is commonly known by her nickname, Mai, which translates into "new, shining, young, beautiful".

Early life

Khun Mai (Sirikitiya) is the youngest of three children. Her older sister is Khun Ploypailin, and her older brother was Khun Poom Jensen (Khun Bhumi). Khun Mai and her siblings grew up in San Diego, California, United States. Both she and her brother attended Torrey Pines High School, a public school. Khun Bhumi, was born with autism and required specialized schooling. In 2001, after their parents' divorce, Mai's mother and Bhumi moved back to Thailand. Mai stayed in San Diego, with her father and graduated from high school in 2003. Khun Ploypailin went back to San Diego to live with her father and entered the University of California, San Diego and graduated. After high school, Khun Mai attended University of California, Riverside. She was recently on a public relations tour in Cambodia with her close friends, Naree Bunyagidj, Sarin Prakobwanakit, and Christopher Sorich.

College years

Khun Mai's brother, Bhumi Jensen, drowned in the 2004 tsunami, while jet skiing in Khao Lak, Phang Nga province. Their grandfather, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, granted Bhumi a royal cremation ceremony, over which he and the Queen presided. Khun Mai attended, with the Royal Family.

Khun Mai graduated from New York University (class of 2007), majoring in East Asian Studies, with a focus on the histories of Japan and China.
