Names of modern India in its official languages

The following table lists the names of the Republic of India in each of the twenty-three constitutionally-recognised languages listed in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India. Hindi and English (listed in boldface) are the languages used by the Union Government for official work. Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu are officially classical languages of India.
