Kesa Electricals plc ( ) is a leading
European
consumer electronics and
household appliance retailing group. It is the third largest electrical group in Europe. It is dual-listed on the
London Stock Exchange and
Euronext and is a member of the
FTSE 250 index.
History
The Company was formed in 2003 by demerger from
Kingfisher plc. In 2007 the Company bought Menaje Del Hogar, a Spanish electrical retail chain.
Operations
Kesa Electricals is based in
London and owns several European retailers including Comet in the United Kingdom, and Darty in France. It also has sourcing offices based in
Paris and
Hong Kong, as well as a wholly owned
wholesaler of electrical accessories,
Dacem, who supply all of Kesa's European operations.
Its structure is as follows:
- Comet: Retail and E-commerce in UK. They own 251 stores with 268,500 square metres of selling space
- Darty France: Retail in France. They own 214 stores with 282,700 square metres of selling space
- Darty Italy: Retail in Italy. They own 13 stores with 19,750 square metres of selling space
- Darty Turkey: Retail in Turkey. They own 6 stores with 8,200 square metres of selling space
- BCC: Retail and E-commerce in Netherlands. They own 50 stores with 64,900 square metres of selling space
- Vanden Borre: Retail in Belgium. They own 57 stores with 60,800 square metres of selling space
- Menaje Del Hogar: Retail in Spain and Portugal. They own 67 stores with 79,500 square meters of selling space
