county located in the
U.S. state of
Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population was 3,562. Its
county seat is
Buffalo.

U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,041 square miles (2,696 km²), of which, 1,039 square miles (2,691 km²) of it is land and 2 square miles (5 km²) of it (0.19%) is water.

census of 2000, there were 3,562 people, 1,509 households, and 1,030 families residing in the county. The
population density was 3 people per square mile (1/km²). There were 1,863 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (1/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.87%

The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.87.
In the county, the population was spread out with 23.30% under the age of 18, 6.40% from 18 to 24, 23.40% from 25 to 44, 25.20% from 45 to 64, and 21.70% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 96.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.20 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $33,705, and the median income for a family was $40,907. Males had a median income of $27,896 versus $20,784 for females. The
per capita income for the county was $18,011. About 7.10% of families and 10.20% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 15.90% of those under age 18 and 4.00% of those age 65 or over.
