GameTab, much like
Game Rankings, is a
website which keeps track of
video game reviews from other web sites. GameTab was founded in 2002 and was acquired by
Ziff Davis in 2006. Aside from including the scores from various publications and averaging them, GameTab includes quotes from some of the reviews a la
Rotten Tomatoes. The website is also very popular for its
RSS news aggregation, which includes news from many of the most popular gaming websites. Its primary competitor are
CNET's
Game Rankings and
IGN's
GameStats. GameTab operates under
UGO's
1UP.com, formerly operated by Ziff Davis.
Creation
GameTab was first started by Jeremiah Freyholtz, the creator and current owner of the popular
video game box art website,
VGBoxart, EvoTab, a website very similar to GameTab and The Frugal Gamer, a website created for keeping track of game deals around the internet.
