Batten Kill, or
Battenkill, or the
Battenkill River, is an approximately 50-mile river rising in
Vermont that flows into
New York and is a tributary of the
Hudson River. As "
Kill" means river, it is grammatically redundant to call it the "Battenkill River".
The mouth of Batten Kill is in
Easton, New York (at ).
The source of the river is in
East Dorset, Vermont (at ).
The river is known for its fishing as it has a prominent
trout population. The
Shushan Covered Bridge crosses it at one point and the headquarters of the
Orvis Corporation are also located along its course.
