Amerigine or
ameriginal is a term coined in 1961 by B. Jonson and explained in his treatise
Amerigine, published by
Savant publications and refers to a theoretical group of homo sapiens that originally evolved in the Americas. Although the idea was wildly speculative when the work was written, much evidence has been uncovered by later archaeologists that seem to indicate the presence of humans in the Americas pre-migrations. While the term Amerigine is specific to the theoretical group, it may refer to
indigenous peoples of the Americas in general.
