  • The three awards Steely Dan won were their first ever career Grammy Wins.
  • Eminem's controversial The Marshall Mathers LP which had several nominations including Album of the Year caused outrage. 200 protesters on behalf of GLAAD and other groups gathered outside the Staples Center to protest Eminem's album which they considered homophobic and sexist.
